What are you waiting for?

Today as I walked home from the gym, I passed a coffee shop and overheard a snipit of a conversation two gentlemen were having on the outdoor patio. One guy simply said to the other, “This year I’m giving myself permission to go big with my art.”

I smiled and continued walking by, wondering what kind of artist he is and if I’d like his work or not. Then I thought, “Why on earth has this guy been stopping himself? If this is his passion, why has he been waiting to go big and be great?

Last year at about this time, Bob Brewer decided he wanted to go big, or rather, go small: On January 19, 2011, Bob weighed 270 lbs at 5’10″, that makes him morbidly obease by all medical standards.  He had just passed his 24 year wedding anniversary, and he wanted to make some changes- but was not sure where to begin.

Fast forward to his 25th wedding anniversary, in September, 2011- Bob celebrated in style at 195 lbs- his weight when he met his wife.  Bob decided to go big, and in 9 months, he did.

How Bob did it:

No magic pills.  No fad diets.  Bob got into an exercise routine that he enjoyed, and that  facilitated a lifestyle change away from the habits that caused him to lose the weight in the first place.  Bob joined the 2011 Optibike Weight Loss Challenge, and worked with Optibike Cycling and Weight Loss Coach Traci Brown, a 3x National Collegiate Cycling Champion who has helped hundreds of people of all fitness levels reach their goals.

Bob was not alone:

Bob had the support of an entire group of people who also wanted to make a lifestyle change, the average weight loss over 10 months of those who fully participated was 40 lbs.  Bob, and the entire group have made lasting lifestyle changes that were fun to implement and will be easy to maintain.
