Fitness and Strength Building with an Optibike

Does riding fast on an Optibike increase your Strength?
The main reason people are buying e-bikes is because they are FUN. The common misconception or stereotypical image is that the rider is lazy, or that the majority of buyers are old and infirm. These are not the majority of buyers. People buy e-bikes because they are FUN, and because e-bikes are fun they end up riding more, which leads to achieving a higher level of fitness.
For example – One major European bike brand noticed that their team who were focusing on e-bikes got fitter, and as they inquired as to why, they realized that the team was riding just for fun and a lot more than before.
On one of my e-bike rides out in the countryside I had a rider on a conventional bike race up to me as I was resting at a stop sign figuring out where to go next. He was desperately out of breathe, almost fainting from trying to catch me, and he yelled – “you’re cheating”! I was astounded at his conclusion and said “I’m not cheating, I’m like really having fun!”
But even FUN doesn’t really cover the magnitude of what an Optibike represents. You don’t sit on an Optibike and do nothing. People often miss the point – it isn’t about making what you do easier, it’s about getting more ground covered for your time and calories.
For example: The average time many of us have for a good mountain bike ride is 1 ½ hours, so one climb and one descent. With an e-bike that gets the climbing done faster (like an Optibike going 25 mph uphill), you will have more time within your 1 ½ hours for doing what you enjoy the most. This means you get to do 2 climbs and 2 descents within your time period of 1 ½ hours instead of one, and cover a lot more ground. Plus it’s so fun you increase your rides.
With an Optibike the rider pedals in parallel with the patented mid-drive motor (MBB). Which means the harder you pedal the faster the bike goes in any gear. You can ride to increase your aerobic capacity, endurance, and strength. You can design structured workouts to become very fit on an Optibike.
E-bikes are a new dimension in cycling. By using your own strength supported by new technology even long routes and steep mountain climbs are not beyond reach as you enjoy the thrill of adventure… while getting fitter and fitter.
So yes, Optibike increases your strength.
In the next blog I will discuss the role of the Vestibular on health, and how riding an Optibike is one of the most excellent ways to keep your Vestibular healthy.
