Optibike G2 Metro – The Urban Commuter Without Compromise
Most urban commuter e-bikes are built to meet a price point — not a performance standard.
They often have high standover heights that make mounting and dismounting awkward in traffic. They offer modest torque, requiring constant downshifting and effort to climb hills. Batteries are small, limiting real-world range. Suspension is minimal or nonexistent, leaving riders to absorb broken pavement through their wrists, back, and hips. And too many are built for short-term ownership rather than long-term durability.
For serious riders — especially active seniors who want to stay strong, mobile, and independent — those compromises matter.
The Optibike G2 Metro was engineered to eliminate them.
Exclusive Power That Changes the Ride
At its core is the exclusive Optibike PowerStorm 750W continuous mid-drive motor, producing a class-leading 190Nm of torque — roughly double what most commuter e-bikes deliver.
That torque transforms everyday riding:
- Easier starts from stop signs and traffic lights — smooth, controlled takeoffs without wobble or strain
- Less shifting required — strong mechanical advantage means fewer gear changes
- Steeper hill-climbing capability — long grades feel manageable instead of punishing
- Reduced joint stress — riders can spin comfortably rather than grind, especially important for those with knee replacements or hip sensitivity
For active seniors, the moment of starting from a stop can be the most unstable part of a ride. The Metro’s torque makes that transition confident and predictable.

Mass Central Design: Stability You Can Feel
Power alone isn’t enough — balance matters.
The G2 Metro uses Optibike’s Mass Central Design, keeping the motor and battery positioned low and centered within the frame. This centralized weight distribution creates:
- Stable low-speed handling
- Solid, confident cornering
- Improved traction when climbing
- A planted, predictable feel at Class 3 speeds
Instead of feeling top-heavy or rear-biased, the Metro rides like a cohesive, grounded machine.
Range That Matches the Power
The G2 Metro is equipped with a massive 1,440Wh battery, roughly double the capacity of many commuter e-bikes. That means:
- Longer rides
- Fewer charging cycles
- Real commuting capability
- Multi-day touring potential
The Gen 2 frame redesign integrates this large battery while maintaining stability and includes a Quick-Swap battery system for riders who want extended range without tools.

Built Around the Rider
Every G2 Metro is hand-built to order in Colorado. During the ordering process, we gather rider height, weight, preferred riding position, and any additional needs so the bike arrives set up correctly.
The Gen 2 frame features a lower standover height, making mounting and dismounting easier — particularly valuable for riders managing reduced flexibility or balance concerns.
True dual suspension (150mm front travel with rear shock options) absorbs broken pavement and uneven paths, reducing impact on the spine and joints.
Seat options allow riders to fine-tune comfort for long rides — from wider, cushioned saddles for upright posture to performance-oriented designs for more active riding.
The optional dropper seatpost adds another level of confidence: lower the saddle at stop signs to place both feet flat on the ground without leaving the seat, then raise it instantly for full leg extension and efficient pedaling.
The Metro can be configured at the factory as a Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike, or equipped with the optional MMI Multi-Mode Display, allowing riders to select between Class 1, 2, and 3 modes depending on where they’re riding.
For commuting practicality, options such as fenders and rear racks make carrying gear simple and clean. Riders can also select the optional 2700-lumen high-brightness headlight with high/low settings and a matching taillight for reliable visibility.
Why Invest in a G2 Metro?
Yes — the G2 Metro costs more than a basic commuter. But it is built to a completely different standard.
It delivers proprietary 190Nm torque, double-capacity battery range, dual suspension, centralized mass for stability, and hand-assembled quality control — all customized to the individual rider.
For many owners, it replaces car trips. It supports health and independence. It’s a machine engineered to last, not to be replaced in a few seasons.
The G2 Metro isn’t for everyone.
It’s for riders who value performance. For those who appreciate engineering. For those who plan to keep riding strong — comfortably and confidently — for decades.
