R Series FEATURES

Sleek monocoque frame

Safely and stylishly houses all of the electronics including the battery away from the elements and protected from impact. No other electric bike offers this type of protection.

Hydraulic Disk Brakes

Disk brakes perform equally well in wet, muddy conditions and are not subject to “fading” associated with other types of brakes when they get hot. When you are traveling at 30+ mph- disk brakes are crucial for your safety. Hydraulic disk brakes add the ease and agility of 1 finger operation!

Kevlar Reinforced Schwalbe tires

Schwalbe brand tires with Kevlar reinforcement will help keep you rolling even in hostile road or trail conditions. These tires retail for $65 each! They are the best, do not settle for anything less.

Lowest center of gravity= best handling.

Superior handling comes from having light wheels and a balanced, low center of gravity, with the weight of the battery and motor being low and centered- only the Optibike offers handling this good.
The largest battery available in an electric bike.

Powerful Motorized Bottom Brackett (MBB)

The MBB is what makes an Optibike the leader in High Performance E-Bikes. The patented maintenance free gear system gives the rider the freedom to pedal as much or as little as desired while maximizing the acceleration and range of the Optibike.

Top of the line components

Every component on the R-Series bikes are made by a manufacturer known and respected in the cycling industry. Proven performance, proven reliability, and long service mean you will never go back to cheap bike components again. There is a lot of junk out there, but you will not find any here.

14 speed Rohloff Speedhub

The MBB drives through the German made 14 speed Rohloff Speedhub for the ultimate in low maintenance hill climbing and high speed E-biking. The MBB and Rohloff make for THE ultimate riding experience.

Front and Rear Fox Suspension

On road or off? The choice is yours with front and rear Talas 32 suspension by Fox. The Talas 32 front fork boasts more tuning options to ensure that your ride will be super custom, and super plush. Fox has been leading the suspension industry since 1974 and their top quality components are Made in the USA- just like Optibike.

Integrated Fenders

Front and rear fenders shield you from the brown strip that normally appears on your spine when crashing through mud puddles with an ear to ear grin.

Ultra-bright Headlamps and Tail light

Midnight cruise anyone? No problem. Ultrabright Headlamps light up your field of vision so you can safely cruise at night and so others clearly can see you.

Scalable Fun!

Want to double your range? The Optibike is fully wired and ready for the optional Lithium- Ion Touring Package- you have the freedom to add this option exclusively from Optibike at any time!

My over mountain commute took one hour on my 850 with 2.5+ year
old battery. The 1100 does it in 45 minutes = it seriously flies! Most
of the time I don’t want to go any faster and I also commute on my
stripped down and hopped up Ducati 900SS. The 1100 is a whole nother
world. My commute trip top speed has been 39 and average 21.5mph.

This is the bike I’ve been waiting for. I have a Tidalforce 1000 watt
and a 5200 Crystalite with a 48-72V controller. The big hub motors are
the only thing that could compare to the 1100. But they are heavy and
suck batteries to death with their ungeared heavy current draw and
have no battery warranty let alone a 3 yr USA warranty!!

Nothin like it–perhaps a Stealth but that does not have the high end
suspension, balance, weight (55lbs) batt warranty, tires and brakes
which I need for my intense commute and required fine handling

Dude, your bikes kick ass. I’m still riding mine everyday to work, rain, storm or shine and love it. When the end of the world comes and we have to go off the grid with portable fold-out solar panels at our mountain cabin, you can bet I’ll still have my Optibike.

My first ride was great.  Up about 2,000 feet on some nasty steep trails.  Had a hard time keeping the front wheel on the ground (that was a good thing in this case) in some places.  Usually I need to watch my speed around turns on the down hill.  Now I have to watch my speed on the up hill too!  Made it back home with about 50% left.  Pretty cool.  I Love the locking mount in the shipping container!  That was unexpected.

The long expected Optibike finally arrived last Wendsday. I was first impressed by the careful packaging and more so by the quality of workmanship and attention to detail in design and construction once I assembled it. I took it out for a 60 mile ride in two days over the weekend. I have to tell you that it is everything that I expected from an electric bike and more than what I hoped to find. Using the motor in “Eco” mode only for assistance climbing hills I was able to finish my regular route of 25 miles in half the time it usually takes me with my old bike. This route includes two steep climbs each more than a mile and total elevation gain of 1560 ft. The sudden burst of power and speed from a standing start is great for keeping up with traffic in intersections when the light changes to green. So far I am delighted with the choice that I have made. It certainly was worth the wait.

Hi Optibike, just an email to let you know that I timed myself going to work and it used to take 45 minutes to get to work 10 miles away using our light rail system. Now with the Optibike it takes me 25 minutes to get to work by taking roads that used to intimidate me as a cyclist. Now I can keep up with traffic a lot better, which makes my life a whole lot easier. Thanks for the great bike!

I made it through week one of commuting on the Optibike. At 20 miles there and 20 back, I quickly racked up 200 miles.  I am looking forward to another week of perfect biking weather ahead of me.

I am fortunate to be able to make the entire commute on trails.  Week one encounters included countless runners, dogs, fellow bikers, deer, birds, squirrels, a couple of spooked horses and riders, and a sled dog team in training.

The colors of the fall are spectacular, the fog gives rise to the day on the lakes I traverse and I chase the day into night as I bike home to the west.

The bike continues to perform as promised.  My mind and body are enjoying the transition to bicycle commuting.

You guys rock.

Take care,

Richard S.

Quite happy with the distance, although I wouldn’t mind if the battery had even more capacity! On the road, I have gone over 50 miles through the rocky mountains here in northern new mexico. On the forest service roads I have gone almost as far, at a slower rate, up several thousand vertical feet to over 10,000 feet. I hope to go even further this spring or summer.
I test rode an electric around town type bike around ten years ago. Now that I have been living in the mountains, I wanted something with great power, range, and a smooth mountain bike feel to ride the forest service roads. I discovered the Optibike online and said to myself, ‘finally, it exists!’

I’m on my second Optibike and I’ve travelled over 20,000 miles. Durable, fast, long range, beautiful & the best gift ever for your cardio-vascular system. I highly recommend the Rohloff, it makes maintenance a breeze & further enhances your ride, on or off-road, up 30% gradient mountains that few other e-bikes could even attempt…then freewheel downhill the other side. Simply amazing machine.

Now that [touring] battery pack is a nice accessory!   I still have not gotten up a picture of me and my bike to send you but I will.  On a long paved rails to trails bike trail in Jacksonville I got 21 miles with mild pedaling before my rightmost light began flashing, so at that point I head back, which suits me fine for range.  And I have a ball silently gliding past these other bike club jocks over here, not saying a word but inevitably hearing one of them exclaim something.  What I do is to pedal furiously and get up to well over their speed and then coast past them, still pedaling and simulating very heavy work.  Much fun!
