11/3/11 Boulder, CO USA: Optibike, the US based manufacturer of the world’s top hill climbing electric bike, introduced their latest electric bike by dominating the field at the 2011 Pikes Peak Hill Climb Event. The new 48v Optibike 1100R, propelled the 7 member Team Optibike to finish the world’s premiere E-bike event in 1-7th places, with the 8th place electric bike taking almost 3x as long to summit the 14,110ft mountain.
The first Optibike 1100R’s arrived to anxious customers last week. One owner described his new Optibike as, “scary quick, smooth, balanced and exhilarating.” The new Optibike 1100R is available as an off-road electric bike only, because of power restrictions in the US.
The Optibike 1100R is the first production electric bike to use Cool Carbon Technology, which guarantees that the on-board lithium ion battery will not overheat, even in the most extreme conditions. The 1100R battery carries an industry leading 3 year/30,000 mile warranty. The 1100R also uses the exclusive Patented Motorized Bottom Bracket, which puts the motor in parallel with the rider, and allows the motor to use the same gears that the rider uses for unmatched performance and efficiency.
